Getting an opportunity to be part of business development of the early stage product had its learning with lots of challenges. It was something I used to keep away from in my early days as I used to consider it an enemy of the creative front. But as things started to get more serious, I realized that being good at business is supporting my creative front. Thanks to my mentor, professor, and CEO (Dr. Sourish Dasgupta) I ventured into building pitch decks, designing growth strategies, and understanding finance to be able to manage it.
**Work done**
Over the last two years, I played a key role:
- in strategising and brainstorming pitch decks
- designing multiple pitch decks for two major investments ($600K)
- competitor analysis and product positioning
- financial projections and roadmap planning
- SWOT analysis of the product and how to convey Strength and Opportunity for the betterment of the product and company
- designing pricing plans and revenue related strategies
**Key learnings**
- Be simple. Business strategies doesn't have to be very complex to understand.
- Simplicity only comes from clarity. Don't leave if and buts while thinking out product. Have clear need/pain to solution projects and keep things as measurable as possible.
- Don't be afraid of the competitive landscape. Your biggest competitor is the existing habits of your users.
- Good product leads to positive impact and that leads to good business.
